OUR HISTORY

In 1984, the city of Benbrook was growing at a rapid rate and forecasts were for continued growth. The staff of First Baptist Church made a down payment on 5 acres of land located on FM 2871, on top a hill overlooking the west Benbrook area.

On April 26, 1987, Mike Williams was ordained by First Baptist Church as pastor of the new congregation which was to be formed. On June 3, 1987, this core group met for the first time. On September 13, 1987, twenty-nine people met for Bible study and 38 for worship at the La Petite Academy. On March 12, 1989, Trinity Hills’ first services were held at Westpark Elementary School with 50 in attendance for Bible study and 60 for worship. In a called business conference in May of 1990, the construction phase of the project began. Construction was completed in October.
In December of 1993, Pastor Mike Williams received his Doctoral degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in church history. In January 1995, Dr. Williams resigned as pastor to become assistant professor at Dallas Baptist University. The Pastor Search Committee was selected in the spring of 1995. In July 1996,           Dr. Larry Sanders from Billings, Montana, was selected to be the pastor of Trinity Hills Baptist.  Dr. Sanders began his ministry by taking a group to Pampa, Texas for FAITH training.  He began emphasizing discipleship to grow church members.  In subsequent years he led mission efforts and commitments to Juarez and Saltillo, Mexico as well as the Navajo Nation in New Mexico.  We have sent missionaries to China, Cambodia and Peru.

OUR MISSION

The central directive Jesus gives His followers is to go and “make disciples.” At Trinity Hills we understand a disciple is called to exalt the Lord, equip one another for the work of ministry, and to evangelize the world around us with the Gospel.

OUR BELIEFS

• We affirm the Holy Bible as the inspired Word of God and the basis for our beliefs.

• The church subscribes to the doctrinal statement of The Baptist Faith and Message as adopted by the
  Southern Baptist Convention in 1963.

• We voluntarily band ourselves together as a body of believers in Jesus Christ, personally committed to sharing   the good news of salvation to lost mankind.

• The ordinances of the church are believer’s baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
